Here is a simple science project that I thought of .

Clip pictures of animate and inanimate objects from old magazines . I think it’s a good idea to do this when the kiddies are asleep or occupied elsewhere . That way they won’t know what the pictures are for. (A box of these clippings is good to have on hand for lots of different projects!)

Depending on the size project you want to do , choose either construction paper or poster board to fit what you have in mind .
Divide it into two sections . Label one It’s Alive the other Or Is It?
(Good time to explain what animate and inanimate mean.)

Begin a discussion about what makes something alive. Does it breathe? Does it grow? Does it need water? Choose a couple of pictures that you have clipped and pose the is it alive or not question to the kiddie(s) . Then let the kiddie(s) pick pictures from the box of clippings and let them paste them in the correct section of their paper. This can be VERY interesting if you have found a picture of a dinosaur or something like it! It could open up a whole new discussion!
