Objective: to make a pie graph depicting the favorite types of pies of your friends and family.

Learn sampling techniques and recording methods

Directions:

Interview 10-20 people about their favorite kind of pie. If you wish, limit their choices to 5 kinds.

Record the data gathered on the Tally Worksheet. List the types of pie in the first column. Use tally marks* in the middle column to record the answers. Total the tallies in the last column.

*tally marks are straight lines in groups of 5 (4 vertical and 1 diagonal line connecting them) used to quickly count a large number.

Create the graph using Create a Graph or pencil and paper.
